Be gentle in the Fae

I've walked my twilight paths of fae
for eons on my own,
treasured each and every tree,
loved the flowers new grown.
I sailed the star paths nightly smooth
floating through dreams and desires
and thought myself so very complete
with my wolves, my trees and spirit fires.
But one day wandering too close to the edge,
I felt the heat of man.
A new feeling came, never known before,
hotter than earth and more sensual than pain.
I opened my shields that protected my world
and let the light shine through-
just a space, a narrow span of time,
to see what man would do.

And man wandered in with mirth and sorrow
with songs and poems and one thing more...
Man came in to this land of tomorrow
With the pain of time never felt before
but the songs and poems and passions spent
were worth the taint of passing
so I never regret opening my world
to the sounds of the world outside massing.

So know that you walk within my world
invited for a walk through madness
in this time of no time and this place not a place
to gift me with love and sadness.
Beware when invited you walk quite apart
be cautious of hurting with your games
for you are standing in the eye of my heart
and I have the sound of your names.
