Fire to Snow
Starry night
Clear blue skies
I lay on my bed
Can't close my eyes.
Consumed in the darkness
Hard to stay awake
Slipping into a trance
The room begins to shake.
The beat of my heart
Pounds loud in my ears
Can't seem to move
Paralyzed in my fears.
Dark shadows above me
There's movement below
Outside the skies are quaking
I think it's beginning to snow.
The floor drops out
Feels like I'm falling
Spirits fly around me
I can hear them calling.
Faces from the past
Shine and then they're gone
Can't seem to get off
This ride that I'm on.
A high pitched scream
Crash through a window
Surrounded by smoke
Turning to snow.
Fire in the house
Chill in the air
An angel's sweet song
A Devil's dark lair.
Wake up
Hear no sound
A chain starts to jingle
Upon the ground.
A fire explodes
From the foot of my bed
The faces fall in
"Come join us," they said.
Then I saw you
With your arms open wide
"Child, come near-
There's safety inside."
The sleeper awakes
To morning's soft glow
Surprised to discover
A land covered with snow.
