Growth

Every time I make a mistake,
And it comes back to bite me in the ass,
(As it always does),
God, I hope it is a part of the path
To wisdom!
Open my eyes to truth today,
Put honesty in my mouth,
Let my body be a temple
For worship.

Each time I become unclean,
It is harder to become white again,
And the shades of gray encroach
To teach me a lesson.

To read the writing on the wall,
Let knowledge be my spectacles.
Shine the light of pure heaven
Through the prism
To make rainbow spikes on my soul.

Take me higher than the gutter I have known
To allow me to be the example
To any who observe,
For I am not the only fool
Who needs to grow.
