"Friends Forever"
Dedicated to my friend Helen
"Friends forever" we used to say,
Until the end,
We were always together,
You were my best friend.
When I cried, you were by my-side,
When I was scared, you helped me through my fear,
It was like we had one heart,
Nothing could tear it apart.
Then suddenly something tore apart are heart,
We can't survive without the other part,
It's like salt without pepper,
Sun without it's moon.
We both know deep in our hearts
That neither one of us is to blame,
Thinking of you,
My heart aches, I just want to scream.
I can't stand to feel this way,
What can I do to make you understand,
I just want you to stand next to me,
So I can reach out and we will both be free.
All the night I just sit here and cry,
The thought of you brings the tears to my eyes,
But wanting you to want me,
It's all a dream.
As we get older,
We must move on,
Even though things are different now,
You will always be my friend.

Prison-Like Place
You can hear them,
As they cry out in pain,
They are trapped,
In a prison-like place,
They call this their home.
You see them behind locked doors,
You see the sadness in their face,
You look in their eyes,
In them you see hatred,
Sadness,
You also see the hurt,
Their eyes describe what they feel,
Deep in their heart.
Their parents sent them,
To this prison like place,
So they can get help,
To get rid of the evil that has taken over them.
The evil is the drugs and drinking,
The lying and hurting,
The sneaking out and partying,
When they should be home,
Sleeping safely in there beds.
Then one day it is all over,
Some men come and take them away,
That is how they end up,
In this prison-like place.
But there parents just don't understand,
That this prison like-place is no help,
It only makes things even worse.
Until they put it all to rest,
They lay themselves down,
For their last few precious moments they weep.
They remember the love,
Joy,
And peace,
That they had once felt.
But now it is all over,
They will feel no more hurt,
As they lay themselves down,
One,
Last,
Time.
