Reunion

We three were family once

as close as brothers and sister

We swung on swings, rode bikes in the park

and ran through the sprinkler, on hot summer days

Laughing noisy, wild kids

driving our parents crazy

Your mother my aunt, your father my uncle

though no blood ties existed

Just the ties of young hearts

who traveled through youth together

~

Than that day came

that darkened our hearts

The tears we shed together

as we huddled under a black umbrella

As the rain poured down from the dark skies

when we buried your brother, my "brother" Bobby

He was just seventeen, when he took his life

from the pain of love rejected

For thirty years after we didn't see one another

time passed and we went separate ways

~

Then yesterday, as I sat at the park

a sultry, husky female voice

called out my name

I turned and saw a beautiful vision

a tall blond woman with bright blue eyes and curly blond hair

You reentered my life

with that call of my name

The next two days were like a dream

we cried, we laughed, we made love

The years rolling back and forth

like the waves on the lake

My spirit that was so dark

was renewed by your smile, voice and touch

You had to leave today for a month

that, your job demanded...

But when you return

at the airport I’ll be.

Because now found,

I won't lose you again.
